Dr. Roger Kerzner, MD, MBA, FACC joined Heartbeat as a clinical cardiologist.  He was previously the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Group at Christiana Care in Delaware where he developed a passion for improving chronic disease care delivery, population health, and value-based care.

He completed his medical education at the Medical College of Virginia-Virginia Commonwealth University, his training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Washington University School of Medicine, and his MBA at Auburn University.

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, exercising on an elliptical trainer, biking, and reading history.

Dr. Ambreen Mohamed is a Non-invasive Cardiologist with Heartbeat Health. She recently became head of medical education with the company.

A Southern California native, Dr. Mohamed completed her undergraduate degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine. She went on to earn her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine residency from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and Cardiology fellowship, serving as Chief Fellow, from Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Mohamed has a vested interest in advanced cardiac imaging having completed subspecialty fellowships in Cardiac MRI and most recently Structural Cardiac Imaging from Scripps Clinic in San Diego, CA, where she currently resides.

She is board certified in Cardiology, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology and Internal Medicine. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. 

Dr. Mohamed is actively involved in leadership with American College of Cardiology, Women in Cardiology section. She was selected as part of the first leadership cohort with the California section of the American College of Cardiology. She has always had a passion for helping people and is involved in charity work with providing educational grants for underprivileged girls  in Pakistan. She has co-hosted a podcast called Heart 2 Heart and is an advocate for physician mental health & wellness. In her free time, Dr. Mohamed loves to do beachside runs, spend time with loved ones, and travel the world. 

Pelbreton (Pel) C. Balfour Jr. MD, MSc is a board-certified cardiologist with subspecialty training in Advanced cardiac imaging. After receiving his BA from Brown University and his Doctorate of Medicine from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Medicine, Dr. Balfour completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. 

He then completed the T-32 Clinical and Research Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at Wake Forest School of Medicine where he received a Master’s Degree in Clinical and Population Translational Science.  He then returned to the University of Virginia to complete a 2-year advanced cardiovascular imaging fellowship. He has been the recipient of several research training grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), awarded numerous presentation and travel awards, and published several peer-reviewed articles. In 2017, Dr. Balfour joined Baptist Heart & Vascular Institute in Pensacola, Florida.  Dr. Balfour specializes in cardiovascular risk reduction, hypertensive heart disease, cardio- oncology, and advanced cardiac imaging.

Dr. Balfour is a Certified Hypertension Specialist and HF-Cert. Dr. Balfour remains very active in research as site Principal Investigator for several clinical trials and serves as one of the physician champions for the Baptist Heart Failure Clinic.  Dr. Balfour was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Baptist Healthcare Foundation. He is a proud member of the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC), American College of Cardiology (ACC), American Heart Association (AHA), American Society for Preventive Cardiology, Heart Failure Society of America (HFSA), and Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR).  Fun Facts- Born in Washington, DC but grew up in Trinidad and Tobago. Avid Athlete-Played Basketball and Soccer. Ran Track and Field in College. Joined the Brown Cricket Club Senior year.

Dr Osman Faheem is a board certified general and interventional cardiologist with a decade of experience in patient care, clinical research and teaching. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan and pursued extensive medical training in prestigious institutions, including the University of Connecticut and Yale University. He is ABIM board-certified in Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Cardiology and National Board of Echocardiography.

His research has been published in high impact journals, has authored book chapters and presented at international meetings. Dr. Faheem has served has co-investigator for major clinical trials and also worked with the American College of Cardiology on a national initiative to improve care for aortic stenosis patients. His clinical interest focuses on diagnosis and treatment of valvular heart disease. In his spare time Dr. Faheem likes to restore and ride vintage motorcycles.

Dr. German is a cardiologist and cardiac imaging specialist, board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CT).

He completed his medical education and earned a Master’s degree in public health at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana before transitioning to Portland, Oregon, where he completed his residency and fellowship training programs and where he is now on faculty at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). He teaches medical students, residents, and fellows and has academic interests in cardiac imaging, including cardiac computed tomography (CT) imaging, and in treating patients with pericardial disease.

Dr. German spends nearly all of his free time with his wife and children and loves to travel, hike, and ski whenever he is able.

Ron is a board-certified pulmonologist & sleep medicine specialist. He has a passion for treating sleep disorders, particularly sleep apnea, in order to improve general health and mitigate cardiovascular disease. He is also a smoking cessation specialist. He has been voted a Seattle Magazine Top Doc for 8 years. He attended

medical school at Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons followed by Internal Medicine residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He completed his fellowship in pulmonary, critical care & sleep medicine at Stanford Medical Center. He founded and was medical director of two regional sleep centers; established a home sleep

apnea testing program; and developed, implemented, and oversaw the operations of a CPAP DME company. Ron has practiced telemedicine for years and enjoys how convenient it is for patients and providers. Ron is an avid SCUBA diver and loves travel, backpacking, camping and sea kayaking.

Dr. Zina D. Hajduczok graduated college Phi Beta Kappa in Biology, then attended Medical School at the State University of New York at Buffalo and received her MD degree with Thesis Honors. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and in Cardiology, after completing Residency and Cardiology Fellowship training at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She spent nine years in academica at SUNY Buffalo, where her research interest and publications were in Cardiac cine CT, Echocardiography and TEE.

She has been Director of 3 western NY hospital Echo labs. In 1999, she went into private practice in Lewiston, NY, where she was voted Top Doctor in 2016 and 2017 and was a Delegate to the New York State Medical Society House of Delegates. In 2017, she moved to Washington State, and worked as a Hospitalist and a Cardiologist at the Critical Access Hospital on Whidbey Island, and led their Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab department, and served as mentor for NP and PA trainees from the University of Washington in Seattle. In 2024, her position changed to full time Cardiologist at Olympic Medical Center, in Port Angeles, WA. She joined the staff of Heartbeat Health in 2023. 

Dr. Christina Kang is a non-invasive cardiologist who brings over a decade of clinical experience. She completed her internal medicine training and cardiology fellowship in Philadelphia, earning multiple active board certifications in cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.

Guided by her passion for innovation and technology, she joined Heartbeat Health, where she delivers comprehensive patient care, expanding her impact through both in-person and virtual care. Dr. Kang loves to travel and explore new places with her husband and 2 children. Also, a fitness enthusiast, she enjoys running and recently achieved a personal milestone by completing her first half marathon.

Timsie Roshini Malaney, DO is a board certified cardiologist for Heartbeat Health and an adjunct Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY.

She focuses on women’s health, lipidology and preventive cardiology and was head of Women’s Health and Prevention at Staten Island University Hospital, in Staten Island, NY. Dr. Malaney has contributed articles to cardiology journals and was a medical writer for ABC News, Self Magazine and other publications. She loves to work out, travel, read and spend time with her husband, 2 kids and 2 pups.

Dr. Kevin Morine is an interventional and structural cardiologist who after living and training in the Boston area moved to Western Massachusetts to raise his family of 3 young boys with his wife. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He is pursuing RPVI and echo certification this year. Dr. Morine’s clinical interests are in all aspects of interventional cardiology focused on TAVR, MitraClip and novel therapies for valvular heart disease.

He spends most of his free time enjoying exercising and caring for his boys. He enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, and any sport imaginable. When he has a rare free moment for himself, he enjoys reading and listening to music.

Dr. Paloma Pina is a board certified cardiologist and electrophysiologist. She is originally from Dominican Republic, where she was raised and attended medical school. After medical school, she trained in Chicago at Cook County Hospital for internal medicine then general cardiology at Advocate Illinois Medical Center and electrophysiology at Northwestern.

Currently, Dr. Paloma is in private practice as a cardiologist and an electrophysiologist in Miami. In her free time, she likes to volunteer at the free cardiology clinic precepting the University of Miami medical students. She also enjoys traveling to new places with her husband and two kids as well as trying out new food.

Ravi Rasalingam is a current MIT Catalyst Fellow, Entrepreneur in residence and cardiologist at the Boston Veterans Affairs Medical center. Originally from New Zealand, where he completed a degree in Medicine, he trained in Cardiology in the United States and was a faculty member in the Division of Cardiology at Washington University in St. Louis for 7 years.

As a clinical expert and educator in echocardiography and advanced cardiac imaging he has lectured in the area of novel uses of ultrasound to evaluate advanced heart failure therapies in several different national forums.  His main area of research focus is in the area of health technology and the role of innovation to disrupt current health practices.

He is participating in two Catalyst phase 2 projects and has been the recipient of a Veterans Affairs Seed award to further develop a novel treatment for obstructive sleep apnea.  

Dr. Angela Ro received her medical degree from New York Medical College. She completed Internal Medicine residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and Cardiology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.

Post training, she worked as a non-invasive cardiologist in private practice in Bronx, NY. She witnessed firsthand the impact of obesity on cardiovascular health, particularly in lower socioeconomic demographics. This exposure fueled her growing interest in cardiometabolic health.

In 2021, Dr. Ro joined Calibrate, a telehealth company focused on metabolic health utilizing GLP-1 medications. She served as Senior Director, Medical Group and gained insights into the significant impact of GLP-1 medications in preventing and treating cardiovascular disease.

In 2023, Dr. Ro transitioned to Heartbeat Health, bringing her expertise and passion for cardiometabolic health to the organization’s innovative approach to cardiovascular care. Dr. Ro is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular DIsease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Medicine, and holds RPVI in Vascular Medicine.

Dr. Salah is currently a non-invasive cardiologist and advanced cardiovascular imaging specialist at Charleston Area Medical Center. In addition, he works as a Tele- Cardiologist interpreting cardiac studies. Prior to his current role he served as a chief of Cardiology at Owensboro Regional Medical Center and as an attending cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington DC. Dr. Salah completed a cardiology fellowship and a dedicated advanced cardiovascular imaging fellowship. He specialized in advanced multimodality cardiovascular imaging with specific interest in Echocardiography and Cardiovascular MRI. He is board certified in internal medicine,  cardiology, echocardiography, cardiovascular MRI and CT, nuclear cardiology, and vascular ultrasound.

During his extensive training and clinical experience at academic medical centers, Dr. Salah served in many leadership roles, including as chief of cardiology, director of cardiac imaging centers, and as member of several hospital and teaching committees. His research interests include atherosclerotic plaque imaging using advanced techniques and valvular heart diseases. In his  spare time he enjoys riding bike with his children, gardening and playing soccer.

An alum of the prestigious New York University School of Medicine, with fellowship training at the Jackson Memorial/Univ. of Miami for cardiovascular diseases and subspecialty training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, now with over 15 years of practice, holding board certifications in both cardiovascular diseases and Cardiac Electrophysiology.

I continually strive to deliver excellence in cardiac care services in all capabilities both diagnostic and in clinical care, with additional interests in heart failure and arrhythmia management.

In my spare time, I enjoy outdoors adventures with my wife and 15 y/o twins and occupy myself with Premier League soccer and Formula 1 racing seasons.

Wendy Schaffer is a cardiologist with expertise in echocardiography and cardio-oncology. She has a PhD from Columbia University and an MD from Cornell University.

She did her cardiology fellowship at Montefiore Einstein in the Bronx and then spent almost two decades providing cardiology care to cancer patients and cancer survivors at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She loves taking care of patients, as well as assisting her medical colleagues in their patient care. In her free-time, she studies Spanish and poetry and runs long distances very slowly (going for her sixth marathon in 2025).

Besides rescuing hearts, she has been rescuing animals for most of her adult life. She currently lives in New York City with more animals than humans.

Dr. Kamesh Sivagnanam is an invasive cardiologist who recently moved to Texas to start a new practice. He is currently board-certified in cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiac CT, and RPVI.  This is his second year with Heartbeat and has enjoyed working with and learning from a wide range of cardiologists from across the country.

His previous research experiences have included several retrospective studies and few ongoing RCTs. Dr. Sivagnanam also worked as a mathematical modeler specializing in Monte Carlo simulations and cost effectiveness analysis in previous studies. He has a publication addressing heart failure education for cardiology fellows in JACC with some of the leading names in heart failure in the country.  He was both chief resident and chief fellow in his training program and was resident of the year twice. When he’s not being a cardiologist, he loves to hike and spend time in nature.

Kevin S. Shah, MD, FACC, FHFSA, is a quadruple board-certified cardiologist with expertise in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology. He currently practices in Long Beach, CA as a heart failure cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California Irvine.

He previously worked at the University of Utah and held roles including Medical director of a CVICU and fellowship director for Heart Failure at University of Utah. He trained in California at UCSD, UCLA, and Cedars Sinai for Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, and Advanced Heart Failure (respectively).

He has won numerous awards including House Officer of the Year and JACC Parmley Young Author Achievement Award. He previously served as a podcast host for the Heart Failure Society of America Heart Failure Beat podcast, has published over fifty peer-reviewed research articles, and his academic interests include heart failure and reducing cardiovascular disease among South Asians. In his free time, Dr. Shah enjoys spending time with his family and consuming stand-up comedy.

Dr Welch attended Williams College and the University of Vermont College of Medicine where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Hospital (Harvard University). Afterwards, he was a postdoctoral fellow researching endothelial dysfunction at the Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute at Boston University.

He is the author of 20 scientific articles including a lead article in the New England Journal of Medicine. He completed a cardiology fellowship at Boston University. He has been practicing cardiology for 26 years with a specialization in non-invasive cardiology. He is board certified in general cardiology, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and vascular medicine. He lives in Portland, Maine where he enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, running and sailing.
